Greece – Scenic Santorini
The white calderas of Santorini serve the picture perfect backdrop for your bucket list photo of Greece. They are undisputedly stunning………however the high volume of tourists is prevalent from the airport to the restaurants. Don’t let that put you off though – just more mindful of your timing and patience.
We visited just before Easter which was just before the season began. We stayed at an Airbnb in Pyrgos. The Airbnb was ideal with a hot tub boasting panoramic views of the island. Pyrgos itself was a town oozing of character and winding mysterious lanes you could spend your day wandering.
Tips
Car – we rented a car and glad that we did. But do be careful of the winding hill roads and inexperienced tourists driving on the island.
Towns – Oia is the picturesque town that defines Santorini Tourism. Fira is a neighbouring town to Oia and a busier and slightly less picturesque. Pyrgos is located on the highest point in Santorini and is a quintessential Greek town with fabulous views.
Sunset – the sunsets in Santorini are unreal. Santowines is a great place to taste a few local wines and watch the sunset.
